A Valentine Happy

Hey everybody!  This is Sarah from Permanently Primary.  :)  I always struggle every year with something cute to do for my students for Valentine's Day.  I don't know why I put so much pressure on myself...must be the Type A.  ;)  This year I just wanted something QUICK, CHEAP, and CUTE.  That's possible, right?  Yep.

I found these party bags of Play-Doh at Meijer.  Aren't they the cutest little containers of Play-Doh?  Not sure if you have one of those where you are...I think they're a midwestern thing.  But I know you can find them at WalMart, Target, and other superstores.  There are 15 in a bag and were on sale for $4!  So I bought 2 bags to have enough for my class of 24 firsties.  For $8 I have something that fosters a little creativity and won't rot their teeth!  ;)

I whipped up these cute little tags to tape to the top of each container.  DONE AND DONE!

You can download this freebie by clicking HERE or clicking on the picture!  Just print, cut, and tape!  Easy peasy!  ;)  HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!

Valentines from the Teacher

Hi everyone! It's Angela from Hippo Hooray for Second Grade! Valentine's Day is just a week away. Do you celebrate Valentine's Day in your class? In my class, we have a Healthy Heart Party, where we snack on healthy foods. They'll be getting enough candy and sugar from their classmates, so I don't need to add fuel to the fire!  We also watch a short movie, and during the movie, I let my kiddos pass out their valentines. Once they're all passed out, they can eat two of their sweet treats, and they take the rest home.

 Do you know what you're giving your classroom sweeties yet? If not, I have an easy, FREE idea that your kiddos will LOVE!
Oh I remember the squeals and the "are you kidding?" comments I got last year when they discovered these gems in their valentines boxes! They're super simple to make: I just printed these onto white copy paper, cut apart, and glued them onto pink card stock. Then I signed my name at the bottom. No Homework Passes are WAY cooler than heart pencils!

If you'd like to use these this year, click here to grab a free copy.

How do you celebrate Valentine's Day in your classroom?

Stop...in the Name of Love! {FREEBIE}

Hey, it's Molly from Lucky to Be in First! Today, I'm here to share a Valentine's Day freebie {and some other things we've been doing this week!}

Lately, we've been practicing our long vowels...A LOT! I figured they were getting bored with our usual Word Work activities during Daily 5, so I added this little activity to the mix!

The students read the long vowel word on the heart, record it and drop it into the correct mailbox! Two days in and they're begging for more activities!

We also re-purposed our mailboxes for a little math fun!
The big winner this week, however, has been Happy Hearts Math! We used these mini boxes of Conversation Hearts {available at CVS!} to predict, graph and interpret the data! It was AWESOME!
 You can find these activities and a bunch others in my Stop in the Name of Love Unit!

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day!

Hey guys and dolls, how's it going?  January is leaving us very
quickly, and February will be here before you know it!!  It's never
too early to be thinking of Valentine's Day!!

There are a few times throughout the year where we get to
graph fun things, and it's one of my kiddos favorite activities!

Graphing conversation hearts is one of my favorite activities,
and I've included a few options, because it seems as if stores
NEVER have the same kind year after year.

Click on the picture below for your freebie!!

I'm also including planning pages for this month, I hope that you enjoy!!

Have fun graphing!!
